John Schumann and Shane Howard are two of the most influential singer-songwriters in Australia and will perform for one night only at Wests New Lambton on December 9th.
John Schumann was the lead singer of Redgum, an Australian folk and political music group formed in 1975. They were best known for their protest song exploring the impact of war in the 1980’s with the hit I Was Only Nineteen which peaked at #1on the National singles charts. Redgum also had a hit in 1984 with I’ve Been To Bali Too, both hit singles were written by Schumann.
Joining Schumann on stage will be Shane Howard lead singer of Goanna. The group was formed in 1977 in Geelong and were well known for their powerful, evocative statement on behalf of indigenous Australia, with a top 20 single in 1982 Solid Rock. In the 80’s both bands became renowned for their political songs.
Schumann and Howard joined forces in the recording studio in 2017 to release a new protest song call ‘Times Like These’.
These two blokes have recorded together on a number of occasions, don’t miss them live on stage together.
